The Porcupine Puffer is also known as the Porcupinefish or the Balloon Porcupine Pufferfish.

They are brown, with a white belly, brown patches over their back and yellow retinas with blue eyes. The body is covered in spines that are very sharp and will only be erect when it puffs up. They will puff up when they feel threatened of stressed. They should be kept in a fish only tank that is 100 gallons or larger with plenty of space to swim and hide. When first introduced into your tank the puffer will need a place to hide but once it is comfortable it will spend most of its time out in the open. The Porcupine Puffer likes to spit water out of the tank so be sure to keep a lid on your tank or protect anything around the tank from getting wet. Like all the other puffers they lack pelvic fins and us the pectoral fins to move around in the tank. Once acclimated to your tank they will eat a variety of meaty marine food consisting of squid, krill, shrimp, clams and other meaty food.
