The Carpet Anemone is found in a variety of colors. They can be blue, brown, white, green orange, yellow, pink, purple, or green. It is a disc shaped anemone that looks like a piece of carpet with a bunch of small tentacles. Keep them in a 50-gallon tank or larger with a sandy substrate and bright lights. They will move around your tank until they find the perfect spot to settle in and call home. They have stinging tentacles that can reach up to a foot away and should be given plenty of space. Their tentacles are very sticky and once they get ahold of something it is difficult to get it away from them. They are also known to sting humans so be careful when handling them because their sting can cause your fingers to be numb.
They are aggressive towards other anemones and should not be kept in a tank with another anemone. They form a relationship with clown fish and prefer to be in a tank with a clown. You will need to add iodine as well as other trace elements to your water to keep them healthy. They mainly get their nutrition through photosynthesis but once acclimated to the tank they will feed on Mysis shrimp, zooplankton, phytoplankton, worms, shrimp and other meaty marine food.
