The Cardinalfish is a small peaceful fish and great for most aquariums. Tapping out around 2” they are easily added to group aquariums but should be watched as they, even for their size, tend to be a little more worked up and while usually peaceful can become aggressive during feeding.
They are reef compatible and love hiding in rocks for protection. They are slow moving fish and prefer to be kept in a tank with little to no water movement and dimmer light. They should be kept in a well-established tank that has great water quality because they easily get infections and diseases.
Cardinalfish are omnivores and should be fed 3-5 times a day. They will eat mysis or brine shrimp, krill, zooplankton and other protein based foods.
