The Sailfin Tang is also known as the Pacific Sailfin Tang. This tang is one of the largest tangs you will find.
You will be able to recognize a Sailfin Tang by the way it looks. They have a very pointed nose, tall fins, sharp spines and beautiful coloration. They are brown in color with freckles on their pointed nose. There are five yellow vertical stripes on the body and one going through the eye. The tail is a bright yellow then fades to a blue. The Sailfin Tang should be kept in a 125 gallon tank or larger with plenty of space because they are known to be very territorial. It will be peaceful with other fish in the tank but not with other Tangs. Only one Tang per tank. Be sure to test your water before adding the Sailfin Tang to your tank because they need highly oxygenated water and should be put in a system that has been running for 6 months or more. They will eat the meaty food you feed other fish in your tank but they are herbivores and will mainly eat seaweed and algae. They should be fed algae or seaweed at least 3 times a week.
