The Vlamingii Tang is also known as the Vlaming’s Unicornfish and Bignose Unicornfish. They are very active tangs and are among one of the hardiest tangs you will find.
These fish are more popular as juveniles then adults because of their coloration. As an adult this Tang becomes drab and less vibrant. In the juvenile stage the color is darker on the top and lightens closer to the bottom of the fish. The fins and face all have bright blue markings. The Vlamingii Tang gets along peacefully with other fish but should not be kept in a tank with other Vlamingi Tangs because they can be aggressive towards their own species. They are reef safe and they will leave your invertebrates alone. They should be kept in a 150 gallon tank or larger with plenty of space to swim, live rock to feed on and a tight fit lid so they cant escape. They will eat the meaty food you feed your other fish in the tank but to keep them healthy offer them plenty or marine seaweed and algae.
