The Yellow Longnose Butterflyfish also known as the Forceps Fish is more unique looking than other butterflyfish. It is a thin yellow fish with a brown head and a long white snout. It should be kept in a well-established 80-gallon tank or larger with plenty of space to swim, caves for it to hid in, and live rock for it to search for algae. Butterflyfish with longer snouts tend to pick at rocks and invertebrates and will likely leave the corals alone. Still keep an eye on this fish when placing it in a tank with coral. They are peaceful fish and will get along well with other peaceful fish. They have a unique swim pattern and can occasionally be seen swimming upside down along the surface of the tank. They should be offered a variety of foods, which include Mysis shrimp, frozen foods, and crustacean flesh and should be getting fed 2-3 times a day. The Longnose Butterfly likes to search in crevices and holes for food so you can put their food in the holes and crevices for them to pick out.
