The coloration of the Spanish Hogfish is one that will keep people looking. A deep yellow body with a blue/purple splash on its upper body and fins show off the beauty of this large fish. This fish, no matter how beautiful, becomes slightly aggressive as it gets larger and older. They tend to grow around 10” and must have ample amount of hiding space as well as a large tank. We recommend something around 70 gallons or larger for a juvenile Spanish Hogfish and a 125 gallon tank or larger for a mature adult. They are peaceful fish but can become aggressive towards smaller docile fish. They are not reef compatible. Make sure it is well fed with snails, worms, mussels, small fish, live shrimp, squid and other meaty foods.
