The Emerald Crab is also known as the Green Crab or the Emerald Mithrax Crab. They come in many shades of tan, brown, red and green.
Their hairy legs easily identify them. Like many other crabs they are nocturnal and will come out at night to hunt for food sometimes when they become familiar with the tank they will be seen eating algae during the day. They should be kept in an established tank because they are sensitive to high nitrate levels, fluctuating water parameters and copper medications.
In your tank you should also have plenty of rock and caves for them to hide in. If there is plenty of food supply in the tank then they are considered reef safe. They will mainly eat algae but would appreciate meaty food in the tank as well.
