The Melanarus Wrasse also more commonly known as the Hoeven’s Wrasse or Tail-Spot Wrasse.
They have a blue green body with yellow, pink, or orange horizontal stripes running along the length of their body. They need to be in a 50 gallon tank or larger that has a tight lid so they can’t jump out.
They prefer 2-3 inches of sand to hide and rest in. They are peaceful wrasses and can be put in the tank with a variety of reef fish. They will eat fire worms, snails, and parasites growing on other fish in your tank. When you first get the wrasse and you notice they aren’t eating try using feeder shrimp to entice them to eat. After they have started eating regularly you should feed them brine shrimp, mysis shrimp, flake food and marine fish.
