The Miniatus Grouper is also known as the Miniata Grouper, Coral or Blue-Spot Rockcod, or Coral Grouper. It has tendencies like a chameleon and can change according to its surroundings. Usually it is a bright red orange with bluish white dots all over. The Miniatus Grouper can get up to a foot long in your tank and should be kept in a 120 gallon tank or larger. In the wild it is known to eat coral but in your tank it will likely leave them alone but because of its size it can easily knock over or break your coral. Invertebrates and smaller fish that can fit in its mouth are not safe in the same tank and will likely get eaten. They have a large appetite, which means they have the need to expel more than usual so be sure your tank has the right filtration system. Besides fish and invertebrates their diet should also consist of shrimp, scallops, krill, clams, squid and other meaty foods.
