The Hawkfish for sale are a very interesting group of fish who are bottom dwellers but love staying up high and swooping down for food, getting its name from the hawk itself. They are small, not getting bigger than 5”, and have scale less tails for resting on rocks and swifter diving. Hawkfish are generally brightly colored and most of them have a red marking of some kind.
They tend to perch on the top of your rockwork most hours of the day until feeding time when they will dive down and pounce on the food. They can become territorial and should be added to the tank last because they will likely harass new additions to the tank. If kept in a reef aquarium they will eat invertebrates in your tank.
They are carnivores and will mainly eat frozen preparations and live feeder shrimp.
